Why I choose a steam iron
25/09/2014 12:35I used to hate ironing like most people do. Whenever I wanted to iron, I would feel like I’m being punished and I would often postpone the chore. It is until I bought a steam iron when my feelings and perception about ironing change completely. I realized that it was not about the activity itself but the type of ironing box I was using. I also found out that I good number of people do not understand that the type of ironing box they are using can greatly determine their feeling towards ironing.
After seeing an advert on how a steam iron box can have a job well done, I decided to look on different online websites such as Amazon and Wal-Mart and see if I could find a good one. I first went through the reviews that previous buyers of the steam iron had left behind. There was one review that really helped me to select the best from the many models in the market. The reviewer highlighted some of the key features that one should consider when buying an iron box. Some of the features mentioned on the reviews included an iron that: releases enough steam, has a soleplates that glide easily, adjustable temperature, have long cord and ultimately one that holds comfortably.
Equipped with all these features of a good ironing box, I could hardly have made a mistake like I did when buying my previous one. So from the internet, I was able to spot the one that incorporated all the features on the review. I made an order and the iron was shipped to my place. This helped me save the time and money that I would have spent walking in and out of different home appliances stores in the city. I now enjoy ironing because with my new steam iron I can iron many clothes within a short period of time than before.
My baby's first cold

My four month old daughter came down with a really bad cold last week. It was the first time she had been sick, and it was terrible. I called the pediatrician and he told me to give her baby Tylenol and make sure her nose was suctioned. I had never had to use that turkey baster looking thing on her before, and she screamed as I got all that yucky stuff out of her nose. I slept on the floor by her crib for 2 nights.
The third day her fever was better but she was still congested. I took her to the pediatrician to make she was OK, and he asked me if I was using a humidifier in her room. I have always used a vaporizer, and he told me a cool mist humidifier is much better at easing congestion in babies. It releases a soothing, cool mist that is much easier for babies to tolerate. He also said that cool mist humidifiers emit less bacteria because it is cold water instead of hot, and that vaporizes can cause scalding and minor injuries in babies and toddlers from the hot steam. He said my daughter was fine, and just needed a few days to get over her cold.
As a first time mom, I am so glad that I spoke with my pediatrician about this. I immediately did some research and purchased a cool mist humidifier for my daughter's room, and threw away the vaporizer. She was feeling much better the next day, and I will use the humidifier from now on when she gets sick.
I put my daughter to bed a couple of hours ago, and curled up on the rocking chair for a while to make sure she stayed asleep. I didn't hear any congestion in her nose as she slept soundly, and the quiet hum of the humidifier soothed us both.
What is a Portable Air Conditioner
11/09/2014 17:07With all the advances in technology and the impressive rate of innovation, it is no surprise that new inventions are popping out on almost a daily basis. The portable air conditioner has been around longer than most people imagine, but it is still relatively new compared to its ancient cousin, the air conditioning system.
Most portable air conditioner reviews will point out the advantages that it has over the conventional air conditioning system, but many people are still blur about what a portable air conditioner actually is.In simple words, a portable air conditioner is a movable air conditioning unit which can be used to cool small areas of a house and moved around according to need and want. If you are looking for a portable air conditioner, visit this site for good info.
The consumption of electricity is usually much lower for portable air conditioners, and the service and maintenance work is also easier and lighter on the wallet. The basic functions of a normal air conditioning system are all available with the portable one, with a few modern surprises in store as well.
When deciding on a portable unit, you'll have to choose between single or dual hose systems. A single hose system uses just one tube to pump hot air out of the building. The trouble is that this reduces the air pressure inside your home. This causes more hot air from the outside to come in through cracks in doors and windows. The A/C unit has to work extra hard as a result, which is a terribly inefficient system. It's not a huge concern if you're trying to cool a small space, and these devices are generally less expensive. For a larger home, though, the extra energy costs can rack up fast - Life Hacker
